An Evening with the Bard

An Evening with The Bard (A One-Man Show by Tristram)

Presented by Tristram

Act One[edit | edit source]

This act will be a collection of tales highlighting the trials and tribulations of various adventures.

Including:

  • Defense of Seglock
  • Death of Thymor’ala the Black
  • Assault on the Shadow Forge and death of Horatio

With some filler stories featuring the antics of Baroon Farquaad and the Mothers Prim.

Throughout the selected stories, there will be several characters woven between the main tales. One is Baroon Farquaad, a parody of Baron Faro, showing him as a bumbling, jealous anti-Adventurer. Other Characters will be the Mothers Prim—Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dumb, and Tweedle Dopey—the three overbearing and droopy “Mothers” who are generally evil and out to beguile the people of Ironshound.

I will use my illusionary magic, Dancing Lights, and Prestidigitation to enhance the show, using the illusions to show the caricatures of the Baron and the Mothers to elicit humor from the audience and further make a mockery of them. I would also like to use Clerical Guidance and another’s Bardic Inspiration to help nail down this section. Disguise Self and the Studded Leather Glamor armor will be used for “costume changes.” The Telekinetic feat’s invisible Mage Hand will also be used to enhance the performance.

The point of this section is to set the tone of the night to grow support for the adventurers, to erode the reputation of the Baron, and to show the background menace of the Mothers and the Dragons to the populace. I will also point out the positives of the PotP and the good they have done.

This is a performance-based section.

I would hope that the setup, stagehands, and all that would give me an advantage in this section.

Act Two[edit | edit source]

Selection of songs and ditties that are based on drinking songs, ballads, and uplifting melodies.

Including:

  • The Ballad of Tokax the Brave (think Danny Boy)
  • What Do You Do with a Drunken Baron
  • 99 Problems, but Horatio Ain’t One
  • Mother’s Little Helpful
  • The Candy Mom Can’t
  • And others

The overall theme of these songs is to mock the Mothers, the Baron, and to immortalize the sacrifices of those who fell to keep the people safe. Sheet music will be sold at the end of the show, with the purpose of spreading the songs throughout the city and even beyond. If this is anything like our history, sheet music was the pop charts prior to the recording of artists. I want to hear these songs spilling out of every bar and tavern all over Quelmar. The Bagpipes of Illusion and many of my cantrips will be used to enhance the show, as well as the Glamor Armor for costume changes. I would also like to use Clerical Guidance and another’s Bardic Inspiration to help nail down this section.

The point of this act is to popularize these songs and spread their playing.

The more they are sung, the more the Baron will be eroded, the support of the brave adventurers will be strengthened, and the populace will be more aware of the danger of the mothers and other threats.

This is a performance-based section.

I would hope that the setup, stagehands, and all that would give me an advantage in this section.

Act Three[edit | edit source]

This is an impassioned call to action for the People of Ishound to rally around those who are actively assisting with the welfare of the common folk. A persuasive talk to get the people to help in various ways. From giving their time to assist the activities of the brave adventurers, to donating spare magic items or other goods they have laying about, to crafting potions or other items to help the adventurers to giving gold or other monetary donations for the furtherment of the aims of adventurers.

I will have Linden Rue use Guidance upon me as I hit the final “Call to Action” for a bonus to my rolls. I will have Delphi give me a Bardic Inspiration as well for the “call to action” as well as assisting me (hoping to get advantage on the roll).

The point of this section is to persuade the populace that the Baron is bad, the Mothers are bad, and Dragons are bad. To combat all the threats to them, an attempt to persuade them to get involved in ways above will be tried. Also, to talk about the shows and talk up the shows to help build the audiences.

This is a persuasion-based section.

I would hope that the setup, stagehands, and all that would give me an advantage in this section. I also can charm with my Fey Step if dancing—2 people per use, up to 5 uses—if that will assist me in trying to persuade some wealthy NPC to part with some extra coin, as long as there is no downside like the charm person spell.

The call to action is to get people to buy into the overall theme of helping those adventurers who give so much to help them. Of course, we at the TCLA will collect that extra coin, or help to connect those who want to donate services to those adventurers who need help. We will try to send helpers to those involved in crafting downtime activities to help speed those processes via the downtime activity list on the Wiki. We will collect any items and then offer them to other players with discretion and minimal avarice. Any donated gold will be used for the stated purposes.

The secondary themes of eroding the support of the Baron and alerting the populace to the threat of the hags and dragons are important but are on a more lower, subconscious level.

Not knowing as a player what a legitimate gate price would be, I am not sure what the admission price would be. I would love to do a series of shows using word of mouth to help generate a buzz and to pack ‘em into the theater.
