The Gone But Not Forgotten Curse (GBNF) was a curse placed on the realm by the Gods after the Holy War to ensure that the dragons would stay dead for good. The Curse was spearheaded by god of the dead, Nerull, who (at the time) had power over both the domain of Life and the domain of Death.
The curse would end with The Griffon's Last Stand, an event that marked the seizure of Nerull's power of death to the Raven Queen, while his power over life was returned to a resurrected Pelor.

The GBNF Curse was one of two curses, inherently linked to each other in their execution.
Around the realm, at the close of the Holy War, various corpses and remnants of the dragons were left. Many were destroyed, and many were kept in hiding.
To prevent necromancers and other dark powers from getting their hands on the Dragons, a curse was placed by Nerull on all the corpses of the realm, if they were to be tampered with, magically enacted upon or otherwise used in a way that could risk bringing back the dangers of the Dragons….the magic would go to waste. Instead of resurrecting a dragon, that immense power of resurrection was redirected to the "Livers" around the world, an ancient bloodline dating to the realm's creation, and (at that point) having perpetuated through creatures of every creed and kind.
At that point, the dragon's body may temporary becomes enraged with dark energies to fight off the necromancer. This secondary affect of the curse was only seen in certain cases, especially when repeat offenders continued to attempt to resurrect a body over and over, or when Nerull deemed it particularly important for the disturber to be punished.
In 11 PR with the breaking of the curses, Dragons could now finally be resurrected by necromancers everywhere, paving the way for occasional dragon appearances (often in the form of zombie dragons or dracoliches) .

- Valhazzith was a notable victim of this curse, and his corpse was brought to life to take vengeance on The Oathwielders in 11 PR on their way out of Jewelspar
