She is adorned with jewels, clothes, and various finery of incredible expense.
History[edit | edit source]
Early Years[edit | edit source]
Glasya is the daughter of the Lord of the Hells Asmodeus, and the Celestial Giantess turned fiend, Azhazni. While she is a child, her mother is murdered in a plot secretly organized by the Lord of Greed, Mammon.
In her youth Asmodeus had Glasya learn under the tutelage of the Cloven Coven, a trio of ancient and powerful witches who shared the secrets of dark magic with Glasya. After completing her training with the coven, Glasya served for a short time in Mammon's court, growing to despise the Lord of Greed, before moving onto serve in her father's court in Nessus. During her time in Nessus, Glasya would send her spies throughout the Hells to keep tabs on the other archdevils. During this time she would also forge a close partnership with the archduchess Fierna. She was eventually promoted by Asmodeus to be the Mistress of the Erinyes, but even this was not enough for Glasya. Wanting more, she took her armies and marched on the 6th layer of the Hells, Malbolge, where she overthrew and killed the layers ruler, the Hag Countess Malagard, claiming Malbolge for herself.
The Infernal Emergence[edit | edit source]
For centuries onward she would rule Malbolge with an deft hand, and began to send her servants into the Material Plane to take advantage of the realms war with dragons. One of her servants, the Barbed Devil Callum, would prove to be one of her greatest assets in this regard. During the Infernal Emergence when Asmodeus pulled Quelmar into the Hells, christening it Hellmar. He served as her eyes and ears during the catastrophe and the negotiations between the mortals and the gods to restore Quelmar. When Quelmar was then restored and Hellmar became the new 10th layer of the Hells, his aid allowed Glasya to ascend to the throne of Nessus, now the ruler of two layers.
The Core Family[edit | edit source]
At some point in 852 PR Glasya has her essence stolen by the Core family and was trapped within a mortal body. 20 Years later she tricked the son of the family Ferdinand Core into marrying her and returning to her her essence. Nine months later she would bear a child and leave it on Ferdinand's doorstep, the young Redemption Core. She would keep a close eye on her daughter as she grew, with Glasya continuously tempting Redemption to fall to the corruption of the Hells. But it would not be Glasya who would pull her daughter into the Hells, but instead the Tiefling Sabbatical, later known as the archdevil Philani, and Redemption's partner. Due to Philani's ties to her daughter, and Philani being the granddaughter of Fierna, Glasya would train Philani for a time upon Philani's arrival in the Hells.
Upon returning to the Hells after her imprisonment by the Core family, Glasya discovered that Mammon had taken advantage of her absence and made some moves on her territory. Glasya was quick to rebuke the Lord of Greed and send Mammon into hiding for a time.
The Infernal Invasion[edit | edit source]
Over the next few years Glasya's resources would be stretched thin, having to manage two layers of the Hells at the same time while making up for her losses after her imprisonment. During this time she took on the Tiefling warlock Viviria Servine to serve as her courier and one of her agents in the Material Plane. When Glasya heard word that a wizard had captured and summoned the Demon Lord Graz'zt, Glasya sent Viviria to kill the wizard and bring the captured demon to her. But instead Viviria and Graz'zt would fall in love, running away together and having a child, Aliria Servine.
While her machinations in the planes beyond were crumbling, her schemes in the Hells weren't fairing much better. She began to use captured celestials in Malbolge in horrific fiendish experiments to create powerful construct weapons. But with her powers being stretched so thin, in 904 PR, these experiments failed and accidentally tore open a rift between Malbolge and Duumal, the first layer of the Hells, allowing demons to invade the 6th layer of the Hells. In response Asmodeus stripped Glasya of her rulership of Malbolge and organized a competition. Whoever could reclaim Mlabolge and capture the rift would be given the position of ruler of Malbolge. Asmodeus then sealed off Malbolge from the rest of the Hells and barred Glasya from participating in the competition. The archdevil to succeed in the end would be Philani and her partner Redemption Core, now a risen archdevil herself going by the name of Delphyne. After the Infernal Invasion, the still open rift would become known as Glasya's Folly.
For her failures in allowing the invasion of Malbolge, Asmodeus punished his daughter by making it rain hellfire in Nessus for 66 days, decimating the landscape and turning most of Glasya's armies to ash. Over the next few years Glasya would slowly begin to regain her power, though without her vast armies she was more vulnerable then she had ever been. During this time she would sink her teeth into the daughter of Viviria Servine, Aliria, making the same promises to Aliria as Glasya had to her mother, and conceiving Aliria to become her warlock and courier. A few years layer, Glasya would also kidnap Aliria's mother, Viviria during the initial chaos of the Infernal Insurrection in 925 PR.
The Infernal Insurrection[edit | edit source]
When Glasya heard word that the archangel Gabriel was gathering mortals to investigate the disapearance of the River Styx and the Abyss, Glasya had Aliria infiltrate Mt. Celestia and the team of heroes Gabriel was gathering to serve as her personal spy. The team was tasked by Gabriel to find the Last Demon, Ratatrosk, and Glasya gave Aliria secret orders to bring Ratatrosk to her instead of Gabriel. Glasya would keep close tabs on her warlock, even visiting her in person at the Garden of Pleasures, not wanting Aliria to slip from her grasp like Aliria's mother.
Eventually Aliria's journey with her fellow adventurers, the Hellraisers, including Aivan Factorovich, Nyrgoth, Balaam, Sylphine Nightfall, and Endine di Valpadana, brought them to Nessus with the Demon Lord Ratatrosk in tow. The Hellraisers were now on the hunt for the giant cultists, the Cult of the Shattered Mountain, who were responsible for destroying the River Styx and who planned to resurrect their goddess, Othea. They still had Ratatrosk with them, bound by an enchanted celestial collar, because they needed his aid in restoring the river. Upon their arrival, they were escorted to Glasya's fortress, Malsheem, by Glasya's new servant, the rakshasha Kharima, a former ally of the party.
Days beforehand, Glasya had been approached by the leader of the Cult of the Shattered Mountain, the storm giant sorcerous, Thrya Cloudbreaker who offered to make an alliance with Glasya. In return for Glasya allowing the cult passage into Hellmar, Glasya would get to become the new ruler of the Hells after their goddess killed Asmodeus and overthrew the gods. Glasya accepted the terms of this agreement and let the cultists prepare an ambush for the Hellraisers in Malsheem.
Upon the Hellraisers arrival in Malsheem's throne room, Glasya forced Aliria to give her the key that controlled Ratatrosks celestial collar. She then revealed her alliance with the Cult of the Shattered Mountain and offered the party a chance to join her and the cult in resurrecting Othea. When the Hellraisers refused, Glasya allowed the cult to ambush the party, led by the Hill Giant warrior Angrboda. During the battle the party were forced to flee by teleporting to Minarous, but not before rescuing Ratatrosk and killing Angrboda. But they had failed to recover Angrboda's Hill Rune, an artifact that was connected to the goddess Othea. When Glasya claimed the rune, she learned the truth of the Hell's creation, and learned of the truth of her mother's murder, since her mother Azhazni was once a former servant of Othea. Soon after she would sever her ties with her former warlock Aliria in response to Aliria's betrayl.
In a rage she teamed up with the archdevil Dispater to invade Minarous and capture Mammon, laying waste to Mammon's palace and the surrounding city. During the raid she would also steal the Vaulkner from Mammon, the very weapon that killed her mother.
Glasya would travel into Hellmar with the Cult of the Shattered mountain and scale the infernal citadel of Kashtar-Val where the cult prepared for their ritual. But near the rituals conclusion, the Hellraisers would attack, and Glasya would have one last climactic battle with her former warlock Aliria who would kill Glasya with a Power Word Kill.
After the battle Asmodeus would return to mourn his deceased daughter.
Realm[edit | edit source]
Glasya is the former ruler of the Sixth layer of Hell, Malbolge, after supplanting the previous lord. When Asmodeus descended to rule the new Tenth level of Hell, she took his position as the Lord of Nessus. She did not relinquish control over Malbolge at this time, and had every intention of maintaining dominance over two layers of the Hells until that eventually proved impossible.
In Nessus she would take up residence in Asmodeus' former fortress of Malsheem.
Worshippers[edit | edit source]
Glasya's worshipers consist primarily of thieves and criminals. In addition she has a large force of warlocks in the realm dedicated to helping her gain power in Quelmar and in the Ten Hells. It was with their help that she was able to claim title as the Lord of the Ninth when her father moved to take the title of Lord of the Tenth.
Notable Servants[edit | edit source]
- Callum, a barbed devil who served Glasya in her time as Malbolge's ruler.
- Viviria Servine, former warlock of Glasya
- Aliria Servine, former courier and warlock of Glasya
- Kharima, a Rakshasha who aligned herself with Glasya after the destruction of the Sinners League.
Offspring[edit | edit source]
Now and again Glasya would make her way into the material realm and seduce mortal men with the intention of producing powerful offspring to serve her.
