The Ring of Winter's Wrath

Type Artifact

The Ring of Winter's Wrath a large ring made of silver and ice that is sized for a giant. In the hands of a humanoid it is large enough to fit as a crown, earning it the nickname "The Crown of Winter's Wrath." It is a powerful magical artifact forged in The Plane of Ice.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Ring of Winter's Wrath was crafted by a clan of Frost Giants with the assistance of the Archdevil Mammon using the icy magics of the Plane of Ice. The ring gave the giants amazing power, and they established themselves as The Frostfell Empire. But the giants would be betrayed by Mammon who stole the ring and stranded them in the plane of ice. The ring would then disappear from history.

The ring would reappear in the possession of Harrow Grimfold in 894 PR. A leyline surge caused by The Thelryan Restoration would have adverse affects on the ring, opening a planer rift to the Plane of Ice, and freeing the Frost Giants of the Frostfell Empire who would begin their hunt for the ring. While in the possession of Harrow Grimfold, the ring seemed to unnaturally extend his life.

Harrow Grimfold would flee to the Luggland mountains to hide away and protect others from the ring. He would eventually be discovered by the Frostfell Empire and the ring would be stolen back.

Prince Ulftiir, the Rimelord, and leader of the Frostfell Empire would attempt to use the ring to open a new Glacial Rift in the skies over Eastern Amusa to bring about a new ice age. In this he would use the ring's magic to position his castle within the rift and had a cabal of priests assist him with maintaining control over the ring. Prince Ulftiir would eventually be defeated by members of The Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company who would recover the ring and use it to close the rift.
