The War of Essence (other names: Essence War, War of the Essence, War of Primordial Chaos) was a two year long period in Quelmar's history in which the realm was infiltrated by refugee elementals from the Elemental Chaos which surrounded Quelmar.

It was said that the war was led by Eladrin sent to Quelmar from the Feywild.

The Eladrin hunted down and used elemental artifacts that gave them complete control over the elements.

By using the artifacts they "bound" and "sundered" the elements.
