Snowball is a Wild Magic Sorcerer from a small gnomish town outside of Galik on the continent of Amusa. She is an artisan, specializing in glass blowing and makes small glass ornaments and sun catchers.

Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

Snowball is a slender tabaxi with white fluffy fur and a pink nose. She has pale blue eyes which take in daylight poorly, so she wears spectacles during the day time but will often take them off while in doors or during nightfall. She was once an average height tabaxi woman at about 5’4 when a wild magic surge caused her to grow 10 inches permanently. She is now 6’2 and as this is a more recent change, she often is unaware of her height and miscalculates for it. She most frequently will be seen wearing a long  knit sweater and trousers with her deep red cloak over top.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Snowball is quiet but curious. She will often find herself suddenly in situations where she must think quickly on her feet and so she at times will make decisions that don’t make very much sense, acting on pure instinct.

History[edit | edit source]

Moments before her birth, Snowball’s mother, Spearmint, had a strike of pain that caused her to kick her leg against a wall, causing an antique snow globe that had been in the family for many generations to crash to the ground from where it sat above the fireplace. The loud sound was enough to scare Spearmint into popping out her kitten with fur bright white like her own. The midwife was quite startled though as a whirlwind of blue and white frost grew out of the snow globe and surrounded them for a moment before finding its home, the new life in her arms would be its vessel.

The wild magic imbued Spearmint’s first and only child, and when she went to hold the baby for the first time, she noticed her wide eyes were blue and violet but had swirling sparkles of white, just like the snow globe that had sat on the mantle for so many decades, holding its secret, waiting for just the right home to be born.

As she grew, Snowball would often show her flashes of chaos and magic. She would freeze over bowls of milk, disappear and reappear several feet away, make illusionary duplicates of herself. She was curious and strange and needed training and something to put her hands to to keep her occupied from trouble.

She would attend primary school and despite occasional hiccups of causing trouble, most times just by accident and by way of the magic that swelled in her, she did very well educationally. She would have top marks in her classes and proved to be dexterous with her hands. While still young, Snowball’s great great grandfather, on his eight of nine lives, came to see her, the one who created the snow globe. He explained that it housed a dangerous spirit that he had captured when he realized the power was too much for him to handle as a sorcerer and he worried he would misuse it. He introduced Snowball to the art of sorcery and began to train her on safe and cautious ways to use her magic.

While in high school, Snowball would find herself distracted in new ways. Firstly with art. She poured herself into crafting and pottery and learned the art of glassblowing and forming from a local artisan who realized her potential and passion and encouraged Snowball to become their apprentice. The other way Snowball found herself distracted was with —- someone. A girlhood crush formed on one of the gnome girls in her classes, Dervla. She was so studious and serious but that laugh and smile caught Snowball’s attention like no other.

Unfortunately, it would only remain that, an unspoken crush that would stay hidden in Snowball’s memories for years to come as she graduated from school and joined the artisan’s guild of Galik. Snowball would become a foremost creator of Sparklemas ornaments. Not a home in her small town didn’t have one of her handmade and blown ornaments hanging in their windows or on their Sparklemas tree when the season arrived. Often Snowball would find that if she meditated on the magic within her, the tides of chaos would guide her in what ornaments made and often she would meet someone that same day or evening who the ornament matched in every way. It made her ornaments unique and personal to her customers and she often used small amounts of magic to make them dance or animate.

She continued to practice her sorcery, though her great great grandfather had run out of lives. She sought ought a university and took evening sessions with them to learn to maintain her skills and abilities, though her surges of wild magic would often result in unwanted and disrupting consequences. She mostly kept it up as a way to release the potent energy living inside her, but in her daily life only used spells for self defense or when she felt it was an emergency.

After some years had passed, Dervla’s Gnana invited Snowball to come assist with clearing out her home to prepare for Sparklemas, wanting one last good holiday before she might have to move into an elder’s home and to hopefully lift Dervla’s spirit. Dervla had become a serious big Galik city lawyer with no intention of coming home to stay. She returned to deal with Gnana’s home and arrangements and leave, but what happened that week would change both their lives. While following the normal routines of Sparklemas, Gnana seemed to be setting Dervla up with their neighbor boy. Dervla eventually went on a date with the young man but then didn’t return to the town festival which concerned Snowball and the other townies that were assisting them.

When Snowball arrived at Gnana’s, she found Dervla hurt, the neighbor trying to unleash an ancient magical artifact that he had no control over. Together they were able to overcome him, return the artifact to Gnana. During the fight, a spell cast by Snowball caused her wild magic to surge and she grew 10 inches in height.

Whether it was her new stature or the way she’d fought to defend her, Dervla finally saw what she’d been looking for all along, a Tabaxi sorceress, a home and people who cared for her. Dervla decided to stay in the small town and together Snowball and Dervla cleaned up Gnana’s and made it into a home all three of them could share. Two Sparklemas’ after their encounter with the ancient artifact that finally brought them together, Snowball and Dervla were married.

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Filled with wild magic, Snowball can change her fate through tides of Chaos.

Attacks and Weapons [edit | edit source]

Snowball carried a whimsically carved quarterstaff that she uses most frequently in combination with booming blade. She is light handed, so she relies on magic to help her pack a punch.

Snowball’s favorite spells are Snilloc’s Snowball Swarm, since her name is in it and she loves the chaos of the snow swirling around her enemies. She also will commonly use a Ray of Frost, Shocking Grasp which she uses the static in her fur to cause, and also favors Chaos Bolt.

Stranded in Isonhound[edit | edit source]

Snowball was provided the opportunity to travel through to Isonhound to participate in the Asar Ogelas festival in Seglock and sell her ornaments in a new land. With Dervla’s blessing, she left for Isonhound with everything she needed to make ornaments, sun catchers, ornate vases, jewelry, bowls, and even stained glass. Everything was going very well, she was selling her beautiful goods when suddenly there was attack after attack. Dragons, lunareans, shadow creatures, there was chaos and everywhere and Snowball hardly knew how to react. She assisted with getting others to safety and found refuge in a nearby guild hall. When the red dragon, which she was told later was the Dread Flame, lay wasted in the streets, the town around them was half burnt, rumble all around them and a bubble of light seemed to be keeping a permeating darkness from seeping into the city. Snowball worries she will never get home to her wife again. After seeking emotional support from a local good rabbitkind woman, Snowball has determined she will take up her staff and help the people of this continent to defend themselves and overcome the shadow. She believes this will be a good use of her talents and power and could help open a way for her to get back home to Amusa.
