The Herlidyr are a nomadic tribe of Breme.

About[edit | edit source]

The Herlidyr are descendants from some of the first humans to reach Breme. Due to the attacks from the witchwolf tribes, and the overall harsh wilderness they needed to learn to adapt rather quickly.

History[edit | edit source]

At some point after their arrival in Breme, the Herlidyr people discovered a magic that allowed them to overcome their basic physical form and take on the attributes of another natural creature through a ritual that became known as the Einndrayna (Ain-Dry-na).

Einndrayna[edit | edit source]

The Einndrayna is a ritual that all the Herlidyr undergo as they come into adulthood. Their family and closest friends celebrate and feast before the tribal elder presents them a drink from a special chalice, before they are escorted into the forest and left. After being left in the forest the subject of the ritual experiences hallucinations where they follow a spirit of nature deeper into the forest and in the midst of the hallucinations they undergo a change. The change is different for each participant and influenced by the spirit that had chosen the individual. For instance, someone who had been chosen by a bear spirit would likely end up getting larger and stronger. One that was chosen by an eagle, raven, or other bird might grow wings.
