Budli is/was a legendary lizardfolk experiment and a fabled creature of the underdark said to possess the abilities and powers of numerous dangerous creatures. Budli was lawful neutral.
Budli appeared in The Underdungeon campaign, and later cameo'd in the finale of ⮞Get Submodule.
History[edit | edit source]
Budli was 4 years old when his mother died. He would later become an esteemed and powerful fighter for his pack.
After being captured by The Bleak Academy, Budli had illithid biology grafted onto his own body, turning him into a Half-Illithid Lizardfolk. It was with the help of Gus and Forgorith that Budli was able to escape the Academy and flee into the nearby sewers, where he narrowly survived an encounter with a vampire, and met Sycamore.
Though he and Gus made it out of Skull City and fled the academy, they were caught again within days, this time by a beholder known as Thaluul. It was in Thaluul's containment that Budli was killed and then raised by Thaluul...this time turning him into a zombie version of his former self. After the zombification, Budli could no longer fight his urge to eat brains, not just for knowledge, but now also for subsistence.
When Budli escaped the beholder, he fled mindlessly into the Underdark's caverns, only to be captured again by the Bleak Academy. In the second round of experimentation, Budli was bonded to the demon blood of several ixitxachitls. This gave him the ability to swim and speak with demons.
Budli lost the last of his free will after falling at the hands of an Aboleth, assimilating into the hivemind of the creature.
Budli accomplished all of this at the ripe young age of 23.
Alpha Complex[edit | edit source]
At some point after escaping (or being captured from) the Underdark, Budli was hooked up by Teslex to a rig of electronics would pulled his zombie/demonic/psionic energies into a turbulent system of tubes which in turn powered a whole society's worth of cloning vats, creating a utopia known as Alpha Complex.
Budli's body was kept in a secret chamber known as "The UnderComplex" in the Reanimation room.
Abilities[edit | edit source]
Budli was a talented fighter and warrior for his lizardfolk pack before he was captured. As a fighter, he was an excellent long-range archer, and a battle master capable of a variety of maneuvers.
After the grafts, Budli could also grapple and devour brains using his facial tentacles, as well as procure a "Mind Blast" that could paralyze and damage nearby weak-minded individuals.
Zombie Budli also had an undead fortitude, making him nearly impossible to kill.
He also could hold his breath for 15 minutes.
