Dalia Embervale is a noble genie Efreeti and the owner and operator of the Garden of Pleasures in the Iron City of Dis, in the Ten Hells.

Physical Appearance

Dalia is a tall, striking woman, with fiery red skin and smoky black hair. She wears the finest of golden jewelry that flows like molten metal across her body. Years in the Hells have also begun to give her a more devilish appearance compared to most Efreeti.

Personality

Dalia Embervale is a competent business woman who only wants the best for her customers, as what's best for them is best for her business. She plays the role of queen of pleasures and is not afraid to use that position and the assumptions that come with it to get what she wants. While she is a fair master to the souls under her care, she does not stand for disobedience, and will quickly rectify any behaviors that may inhibit her work. She is also always on the lookout for interesting individuals, either to add to her collection of servants, or to use in order to regain her freedom.

Her position as the proprietor of the Gardens of Pleasure have her on good terms with almost every archdevil in the Ten Hells, save for the Iron Duke Dispater whom she despises with all her being.

History

Dalia Embervale is a noble genie from the Elemental Plane of Fire. As a noble genie, she has the ability to grant wishes, but before she can grant a wish for herself, she must first grant three wishes to another. Once they offer these wishes to a creature, they are bound to their new master until all three wishes are made. At some point in the past, Dalia was tricked into giving three wishes to the archdevil Dispater, ruler of the second layer of Dis. But after making his first two wishes, Dispater held off on making a third, preferring to torment Dalia by keeping her trapped. In order to protect this wish, Dispater turned it into a gem which he gave to one of his most loyal servants to protect, the Chain Devil Zuul, warden of Ironfell Prison. With Dalia at his mercy, Dispater trapped her within a genie bottle and left her to rot.

But clever as she was, Dalia was not content to remain in isolation as she was. She discovered that while she couldn't leave the bottle, just as she could alter its interior as she wished, she could also change the bottles size. She would transform the bottle into a massive structure and open it up to any and everyone to enjoy its many amenities, opening the Garden of Pleasure for business. While anyone could enter the garden and enjoy what it had to offer, it cost to leave, leaving those without payment trapped in the gardens, slowly sapped of their ability to enjoy the gardens pleasures over many years. Dalia would offer these poor souls the ability to feel again, in exchange for their souls and eternal servitude. over hundreds of years, she would become just as devil-like as the one who trapped her in Dis.

The Infernal Insurrection

In 925 PR a planeswalking adventuring party known as the Hellraisers, including Aivan Factorovich, Aliria Servine, Nyrgoth, Sylphine Nightfall, Balaam, and Endine di Valpadana, would arrive at the Garden, being given tickets that would allow them to leave after two nights by the devil Lord of Greed, Mammon. After they spent a night at the garden, Dalia would call them to her personal V.I.P. lounge. She revealed that the party had recently saved a friend of hers, a Salamander that was being used by the Pit Fiend Bel to power his war machine, the Soulnought. In return for saving her friend, she offered the party information on where they could find the Last Demon, Ironfell Prison, and she also shared the location of the only person to ever escape Ironfell Prison, the fallen angel Sariel. She asked the party, that since they were already on their way to Ironfell, if they could recover her last wish from the Chain Devil Zuul, and the party agreed. When the party returned from Ironfell Prison, they gave the last wish to Dalia, finally freeing her from Dispater's imprisonment. Now freed, she offered the wish to the party who used it to get out of is since Dispater was now hunting them.

Now free, Dalia closed the Garden of Pleasure and journeyed back to her home in the Plane of Fire. Though she would return to the Hells briefly to help kill Dispater and to help reseal the resurrected giant goddess, Othea.

After many years though, she would grow bored of the planes of fire and long for the excitement of the Hells. She would make a deal to reopen the Garden of Pleasures with the new ruler of Dis, Nyrgoth which would allow her to operate in Dis while retaining full control over the gardens and herself. She would also grant the freedom to one of her sevants, the fire genasi Sarah Sinder who had given herself up to Dalia centuries ago in exchange for a wish, so that Sarah could go live her est life with her love, the clockwork sorcerer Aivan Factorovich.
