"You know, I've had a few suicide missions in the last week. I'm really getting tired of it." - Murrary.
Murray "Green" O'Donchu is a Half-Dryad Rogue. One of the Fated Five, he was whisked away from his home on Isonhound to participate in an effort to close Kiston off from the rest of Quelmar.
Murray could talk to plants, including a very smooth palm tree.
Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]
Often clad in fine clothes, Murray nevertheless manages to pull off the look of a man who belongs everywhere he is, whether the slums of Enaya or a formal ball. His smile is never far from his face, even in danger, and the hair on his head is a green reminiscent of summer willow reeds. It fall in natural, thick locks. Though he spends no time styling it, it grows in such a fashionable way that one may think he can shape the growth himself.
His leathers, by contrast, are scratched and worn. Across his studded leather chest piece, studs can be seen missing or torn completely off. It seems to function well enough. Around his neck and down his back in a pristine brown riding cape. Over the leathers he often wears functional, yet stylish clothes of fine linen, cotton, and silk.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Murray often projects self-confidence in everything he does, to a fault. Never wishing to be seen as less intelligent or unable to handle stress, he often will rely on jokes and his natural charisma to get him through any sticky situation. He hates owing people, and often goes out of his way to pay off debts.
Murray has deep-rooted trust issues from childhood, and therefore finds it difficult to work alongside the same group of people for an extended period of time. He's always afraid of being seen as less useful or not needed by any group dynamic, and oftentimes finds himself striking off alone if that ever comes to light.
History[edit | edit source]
His ancestry, predominantly his human side, had always been vilified by the Dryads, whose lands had been encroached by both humans and elves. Fearing he’d lead humans to their home and viewing him as a blight upon them, they sent him away at the age of 14 to the city of Enaya, built as a trading port on the northern shore of Isonhound.
Upon arriving in the city by himself, his green hair and odd customs quickly attracted unwanted attention. Murray learned to meld with the crowds, turning his eccentricities into something to be wanted. He learned to manipulate others, hiding his true emotions behind a mask crafted over years of toil and distrust, never allowing himself to get close to others. Naturally, he gravitated towards the seedy underbelly of Enaya and aligned himself with an elven-human crime syndicate, the Willow’s Sons.
First, odd jobs: an errand here, a light con there. He quickly proved a worthwhile asset and was soon taught how to defend himself and, more importantly, fight. Working as an enforcer, he used his quick wit and quicker blade to extort businesses and other families of their gold, funneling it back towards the Lady Willow herself.
Time passed, and the matriarch of the family grew old. She passed her title on to another and retired to a peaceful life. The new Lady Willow sought to make changes to the family. She began sending Murray on increasingly dangerous tasks, culminating in a near-death experience at the hands of the Jintuk clan, an opposing family of Half-Orcs who called the city home. As his final moments drew near, Murray was transported to the Feywilds upon the wishes of Titania herself, saying that in exchange for his life, he would owe her a debt. Failure to repay it will cost his life.
Unable to say no, Murray agreed and was placed back in his home, a week having gone by since his arrival in the Feywilds, though only minutes seemed to have passed by for him. On his left forearm was a simple green mark, the size of a gold piece, a promise of a debt that must be repaid.
