List of Lyreguard Operations

Lyreguard Operations are well-thought out strategies, gameplans, and contingencies created by the Lyreguard of Galik to cover any number of possible events or dangers to the city.

Lyreguard Operation: Cornflame Moon[edit | edit source]

To draw heat from Galik should leaks occur regarding the Crown of Empyrosis existence and powers, this operation should immediately go into effect, enacted solely by those familiar with the Crown and trusted by the Lyreguard.

The crown should be taken to one of the following locations deemed ‘suitably expendable’

The crown should be used in a suitably eventful way to cause controversy, stir up news, cause rumors, and ultimately lead the public to believe the Crown is no longer in the city of Galik. Once enough witnesses have experienced the crown, it should be covertly smuggled back into the city, back into the hands of the Lyreguard.

Lyreguard Operation: Worst Blaze Scenario[edit | edit source]

Should the crown be taken from the Lyreguard under unfavorable circumstances, this operation should immediately go into effect, enacted by the Lyreguard and other trusted parties.

  • A scryer shall be immediately hired to discern the current location of the crown.
  • If the crown can not be found through divination, a bounty shall be placed publicly on the crown (presumably under a false name) with a hefty reward
  • A minor disaster shall be proclaimed, and all entrances and exits into the city heavily guarded and watched over.
  • The hunt for the other artifacts should be doubled down on, with the hope that their power can stop the Crown should worst case scenario occur.

Lyreguard Operation: Bruneld's Backup Plan[edit | edit source]

Should the crown be used again to attack citizens and cause chaos in Galik, the following operation shall be placed into effect.

  • The body of the Crown’s original form should be brought forward.
  • The body should be reanimated using powerful necromancy.
  • If the crown needs to be found, refer to the relevant operation.
  • Once found, the undead body should be directed by the necromancing party to place the crown directly on itself, a minimum 500 foot distance should be kept during these events, which may cause massive magical disruptions.

Lyreguard Operation: Many Tendriled Flame[edit | edit source]

Should the crown be tagged with some sort of charm or enchantment which allows nefarious parties to hunt it down, the following operation should be put into effect.

  • Several identical crowns should be commissioned by the highest jeweler in Galik, Sir Roughteyn.
  • Identical crowns should be delivered randomly around the city to wealthy patrons, nobles, and other notable persons who may wear the crown in public.
  • Once the public has seen many of these crowns, the real crown should be swapped out at random with one of the false ones.
  • Swapping of crowns around should occur regularly until the nefarious party has been dealt with.

Lyreguard Operation: HotHead Hotbed[edit | edit source]

Should the crown go into another state of overheated rage, the following steps should be taken:

  • Several Decanters of Endless Water should be used in tandem to keep a supply of cold water constantly flowing directly onto the crown until it can be calmed.
  • The cleric known as Midnight should be immediately contacted and paid to pray to her god in hopes that another emotion-calming amulet comes into her possession.
  • If no amulet can be found, then a wizard shall be procured to cast the Floating Disk of Tenser continuously over the course of a day, keeping the crown off of the ground and away from flammable objects, as we move it to a secure location on the ocean front to submerge.

Lyreguard Operation: Trust No. 1[edit | edit source]

In the event that the Lyreguard are compromised and resources cut off from the operations, the following actions should be taken:

  • The City should be fled
  • Contact with all nontrusted sources should be immediately cut off
  • If possible, Feign Death should be used to ensure antagonistic parties are convinced the operations have ceased.
  • A patron should be secured, and the patron should be pressed under scrutiny to ensure they hold no connections to the greater Galik power.
  • Using the money provided by a patron, the first priority should be obtaining an Amulet Against Location.
  • The operation is considered a success when a secondary base and source of money is provided to the group.

Lyreguard Operation:  Tigger Too![edit | edit source]

In the event that the fiend known as Tigger is killed, banished, or otherwise incapacitated:’

  • A clerical sacrifice should be performed, preferably using an untrusted party such as the Kossuthian clerics or the Istishians, in a summoning circle containing the language of Belial.
  • A deal with the Rakshasa that is summoned should be immediately brokered, even if it unfavorable. On our end, the Rakshasa should agree to fetch the staff as long as we give it safe passage.
  • With the Rakshasa in tow, this operation should be marked a success.

Lyreguard Operation: Dugone[edit | edit source]

In the event that Dutharr is kidnapped:

  • The Lyreguard sanctuary in the Sea Ward should be immediately protected, and sanctuary circle there monitored for my arrival via Word of Recall.
  • The Lyreguard broker should be immediately contacted and Scrying operations should be enacted.
  • If necessary, fellow Lyreguards should be asked to travel outside of city limits, or a small independent militia should be hired to pull me out of danger.
  • If the worst were to happen, the chain of command should be passed on, with someone nominating themselves to make executive decisions. Without a strong leader the operation is toast. Do not make it Midnight.

Lyreguard Operation: Apocalypse. Now.[edit | edit source]

In the event that the Banites have obtained one or more of the relics:

  • Galik evacuation procedures should be enacted. Starting with the high wards and moving to the sea wards, in the same way that the city was evacuated during the Cavalry Rush some odd 50 years ago.
  • Dwarven strongholds should be located and pedestrians should be escorted to safety, following the deal made at the treatise of Tiamat.

Lyreguard Operation:  Happy Friending[edit | edit source]

In the event that the crown is destroyed:

  • The volunteers and other parties who assisted in this operation should be rewarded immensely.
  • Widows and families members should be contacted of those who perished during our secret conquests, not any sooner as to not give away our operation.
  • The party should be disbanded and Dutharr can resume work in Galik as city protector.
  • Apologies should be given to the others such that Dutharr don’t look as much like an asshole to them when Dutharr reveals his stake in this all is only to protect the city.
  • Hopefully they understand that with the crown destroyed, Amusa is safe from the artifacts.

Lyreguard Operation:  All Eyes on Us[edit | edit source]

In the event that spies are suspected in the group:

  • Independent missions involving small parties of 1 or 2 should be handed out under the pretense of the irrelevant leads of air and water.
  • The missions should be tracked and cross referenced with Banite (or other antagonist) activity.
  • Locations where Banites appear the most in comparison with the investigative missions should narrow down the spy as long as the parties and missions are rotated regularly.
  • If the spy is captured, this operation can be marked a success.

Lyreguard Operation: Orange & Blackmail[edit | edit source]

In the event that the small child [Tigger] is upset at the activities of the party:

  • A demonstration of Banishment should be performed in front of the child as a threat to her continued disobeying of the group.
  • If the child continues to not cooperate, bribes should be offered to the mother Rosamund in return for her help in gaining the child’s trust again.
  • Bribes can also be directly offered to the child if necessary, including the purchase of more elephants and camels.
