Pharastra is a daughter of Fierna and mother to Philani, also known on the mortal plane of Quelmar as Sabbatical.

Pharastra was originally a tiefling warlock with a pact connected to her mother. Upon concluding her own affairs in the mortal realm she traveled to Phlegethos to live in her mother's palace and work in her direct service. She eventually found herself a consort among the fiends surrounding the palace. The relationship was fairly short-lived, but produced a single daughter, Philani. Rather than take her daughter to the material plane and either leaving her to some others' care or raise here there, Pharastra obtained approval from Fierna to raise her daughter in the palace of Phlegethos and teach her the Hell's business from birth.

Pharastra took great pains to ensure her daughter would be meet her exceptionally high expectations, and she has been rarely disappointed.

Physical Appearance

Originally, Pharastra was a red-skinned tiefling with golden eyes and long, thin horns that angled up and slightly forward. She was short, at a mere 4'11" tall. Upon her transformation to fiendish nature in full she has gained the ability to shapeshift as she desires, and she makes use of this ability frequently. Her common default appearance is taller and retains the golden eyes. She frequently manifests wings, and her horns are usually now in a tight curl to the side of her head. Yet she also commonly takes on the form of each of the mortal races in order to communicate with them more freely. When she does so, she always chooses a form calculated to impress with her beauty, yet still retain a commanding air about her.

Personality

Pharastra is the kind of person who thinks raising a daughter in a palace within depths of Hell is a wonderful idea. She is strict and demanding, but also cares deeply for her daughter and her own mother. She lacks the raw ambition of most fiends and is fully content in her role. She maintains active connections to the material plane and serves as one of the main points of contact between the cult of Fierna in Quelmar and the archdevil herself. Pharastra is one of only a few beings entrusted with the secret that Fierna indeed has discovered the means to create direct portals between the deeper layers of Hell and the material plane, and even knows how to access any presently existing portals as needed for her tasks.

Languages

Since being transfigured into a fiend, Pharastra is now able to speak all languages. She often communicates via telepathy, which she has available to any unshielded creature within 120 feet of her.

Powers and Abilities

Pharastra retains the powers of a Pact of the Chain Fiendish Warlock as well as having been raised to her own fiendish status in a transformation performed by Fierna herself. She is now a trusted lieutenant and a powerful entity in her own right.
