The War of Many Names was the second realm-wide, centuries-long war against Tiamat the Dragon Queen, after her return in 793 PR, and the countless Dragons she had been raising for nearly a millennium on the island of Kiston. The War lasted so long, and evolved on so many fronts, that it is still highly debated whether it should be treated as one very big war, or broken up for the distinct wars that rose and fell over the centuries.

The end of the War looked dramatically different than the beginning, in part due to the rampant innovation and industrialization of the realm over the end of the PR era. (Image Souce: The Smithsonian)

Tiamat's political machinations pitted her foes against one another. As during the first Realm War, political regions across Quelmar clashed over territory and resources, but now dragons continued to ravage the land.

The Second Holy War[edit | edit source]

(901-1000 PR)

As part of the second holy war, Tiamat's alliance with the other Archdukes and Archduchess lead to a special [Unnamed] pact that was used throughout the war, in which souls across Quelmar that were en route to their afterlives were sometimes intercepted and convinced to work against the realm, being given a chance to return to Quelmar and keep living, but as vengeful wraiths, ghosts, spirits, and "psychobombs" (derived from psychopomps).

This would lead to the creation of The Hermes Seal.

Some cities were hit much harder from the oncoming ghosts than others, with two notable cities affected by the "Holy War" being Ahol and Al'Adeaf. In the case of Ahol, the city eventually devised a series of Spirit Wardens who processed all dead bodies to prevent ghosts from returning and attacking the city from the inside, while Al'Adeaf devised a way to keep ghosts peaceful and help them access the afterlife in the form of spritual statues built in the likeness of the departed.

The War of Red Water[edit | edit source]

The War of Apotheosis[edit | edit source]

(1001-1010 PR)

Tiamat's Armies[edit | edit source]

Tiamat enlisted the full force of the dragons in Kiston, as well as unlimited supplies of draconic armies, pulled from sources still unknown. For ground attacks, Tiamat used both Draconians and Draco-Orcs. Draco Orcs were reserved mostly for operations closer to their homeland of Kiston.

 • At one point approaching the year 1000 PR, The Hermes Seal was enacted, devised by the gods of Olympia in Arborea, it forged a pact between rulers of the Outer Planes and limited how souls could enter the afterlife.
