The Capella Consortium was an organization run by the remaining Capella family members in Sneerwell in the 800s PR.
They were one of the most profitable traders in Sneerwell, and one of the most ruthless against its rivals. Even the pirates of the Ssaphibian River detested working with the Consortium. Despite their reputation, they were a public entity, and operated many public trade routes on the rivers...and many more off the books.
Many consider it strange how successful the Capella consortium is, with gold, ivory, and spices coming by the boatload into Sneerwell, but the only things that tend to go back out on the river are sailors, swords, and armors.
The Nightfall Station[edit | edit source]
By 825 PR, the Capellas ran a mining colony known as the Nightfall Station, a gold mine run by slaves of shifters, taken from the various shattered tribes in Isonhound.
The station itself was located about 5 miles out from the merging of the waters of the River Titicaca and the Ssaphibian River. Because the operations at the mine were a highly guarded secret, gold and supplies were ferried back and forth under the guise of "River Scouting" -- a job which required noting any possible Vegepygmy dams, elven ambushes, or even the activity of the dragon Hydrinth who lived in the river.
The Dragon, however, had no patience for the constant boating going back and forth over his lair, and began to get aggressive with the ships, inadvertedly also lending a hand in the shutting down of the Nightfall station. It was Tordek the dwarf, also formally a miner himself, who discovered the colony deep underground through his tremorsensing, and was able to rescue the slaves and shut down the station for good.
The Station itself was unique as it was not just underground, but through one of Isonhound's many fey pockets, leading to an underground patch of stone inside the Feywild, as such, the stone there was actually made of Wovenstone, a substance very valuable to the Pendergras, but NOT to the Capella family. Instead, they had their miners use Goldenstone Pickaxes to turn everything they mined directly into gold, utilizing the inherit properties of Wovenstone to transmutate itself.
