Gnomes tend to have names with a lot of silent letters, because, gnome.
About[edit | edit source]
The realm's largest concentration of gnomes is on the subcontinent of Levinkan. Many secrets are held about the Levinkan royalty who are said to have been given the land by Baervan Wildwanderer themself after the Gnomes lost out on the Territory Wars at the beginning of time.
Gnomes consider Bytopia to be their "Plane of Origin" though it is unknown whether Bytopia was created before or after Quelmar (and the Gnomes) came into existence.
Holidays[edit | edit source]
Festival of the Star[edit | edit source]
The Festival of the Star is a Deep Gnome specific holiday that celebrates their long heritage, traced back to the gnomes of the surface world.
Sparklesmas[edit | edit source]
Sparklesmas is the gnomish holiday to celebrate the birth of Garl's son Sparkling Glittergold. Though originally a Garl-specific holiday, over the years it has become a more secular tradition, with most gnomes drawn to it simply due its traditions, including:
- Gifting and devouring of gold-shaped chocolate lumps
- Glitterbombing
- General Shenanigans
Catster[edit | edit source]
Catster is a Gnomish holiday that occurs once every 6 years in which cats around the realm can understand and speak the common tongue.
Tumanor[edit | edit source]
Named after the Gnomish Bard of Generosity, Tumanor is the Gnomish holiday of Gift-Giving, often (like most gnomish things) exaggerated to the most extreme. During Tumanor (which can last anywhere from 1 day to several weeks) gnomes are expected to give gifts to anyone they come across, and receive a gift in return. Tumanor competitions are held regarding the best gifts and the most gifts, while other factions celebrate with massive feasts.
It is said that Tumanor, invented on Quelmar, became such a big deal that even the Gnomish gods of Bytopia partake in the festivities, where the gods partake in a "secret gifter" event, bequeathing each other presents, and rating the gifts. The ratings are submitted to Garl Glittergold himself who judges which god was the best gifter, and grants that demigod the domain of gnomish generosity for the year.
