The Protectors of the People was an organization of adventures and those who look to better their communities through defeating threats to the people and through their many charity works.
They were founded in 825 PR.
History[edit | edit source]
Origins[edit | edit source]
The Protectors of the People were founded by Guildmaster Brenna in an effort to bolster the people of Isonhound through the guild's charitable works.
The guild was founded to take down what they deemed "Dragons", which were not literal Dragons, but rather the rich and powerful in the era who were hoarding their wealth and abusing their power, rather than lend their aid to the people who were in a dire time of need thanks to The War of Many Names.
Early members included Belle and Archie, the latter of which would convince the heroes of the Greedy Green to investigate and join forces with the PotP. Outside of these courted heroes, the PotP was primarily made up off small grass-roots changemakers, who laid low and sowed revolutionary action through whispers and suggestions, not sword and shield.
The group found their headquarters in a hidden waterfall on the outskirts of the central mountains of Isonhound, where they were guarded not just by the water's edge, but by a treant named "O'key".
During these early grassroots days, the Protectors did not take too many agressive actions, but often times delivered goods to people in need, which got messy quickly when a set of Hags known as The Mothers realized they could abuse this to deliver their cursed baked goods all over Isonhound.
When some of the couriers discovered the food was cursed, it led to more complications, and the leader Brenna began to sow a small distrust for heroes and donors alike, fearing that their violent and vengeful ways was poisoning the good institution of the Protectors.
One of their more notable actions involved blackmailing the mayor of Synàra (Ó Donnchú) which let them operate a little more freely in central Isonhound.
The Store of Good Will[edit | edit source]
Welcome to the Protector’s of the People “Store Of Good Will” located in Seglock. Here you will find used items that have been donated. Spending money on these items will also accrue benefits for people in the region (see chart below). The more each individual spends the more individual villages in rural areas will benefit.
At one point, the PotP opened up a small shop in Seglock to help the heroes of the Greedy Green by selling donated and cheap items to fundraise and support the needy.
The Siege[edit | edit source]
Because the Protectors had kidnapped and weaponized the blood of a Drakkoth in their early days, they became the target of a revenge siege. In Shivicity of 825 PR, the siege leads to the near death of O'key and the death of Frank and Archie, among countless other volunteers with the group. This lead the leader Brenna to enter her own state of vengeance, and as a result, leadership was passed along to a new set of recent and passionate recruits.
Archie would later be resurrected by Linden Rue to continue helping out, but the damage to the institution was done, and big changes were on the horizon.
Second Generation[edit | edit source]
Eventually, Pot'tu Kobb joined the guild, elevating it to new and previously unforeseen heights. Pot'tu recognized the injustices within Isonhound and knew action was necessary. He gathered individuals from far and wide to join the organization—those of great strength, power, and character. After Brenna stepped down as guildmaster, the council of nine was formed, with each council member leading a separate sect of the guild. The Protectors of the People became one of the foremost orders within Isonhound, composed of some of the strongest and most courageous individuals in the land. The guild expanded beyond its charitable works and stood as a shining symbol against tyranny and suffering, ready to face any who would impose such evils upon the people, lest they incur the might of the PotP.
Mission Statement[edit | edit source]
As the Protectors of the People we strive to protect the citizens of Isonhound and beyond from danger in all its forms, from mighty dragons, to despot nobility, and even to debilitating poverty.
