The Battle of Rescuer's Road was an iconic and life changing battle between the Samurai of Troverth and the ragtag group of Questors known as The OathWielders.

Background[edit | edit source]

After being found in Balabag by the Samurai, the OathWielders were captured and brutally interrogated. Using the Prisoner's dilemma, they were asked to turn on each other.

However, the bonds of the team stayed strong......with the exception of Dusky, who turned over Orris as fey magician and traitor to the Dynasty.

As such, Orris was placed on one cart to be executed, and the others placed on a cart headed for the Phantom Front. But these trespassers were not keen on being forced to fight in a war they had no stake in.

The Battle[edit | edit source]

There were 5 Carts in the line headed to the Phantom Front.

  1. One Cart held Tanarukk demons
  2. One cart held Maw Demons
  3. One Cart held Lady Hidori and her bodyguards, as well as the traitor Kel
  4. One Cart held The Oathwielders as well as another traitor...Professor Preicept Commutavi, a transmuter in one of the magical schools of Champerty
  5. One Cart was full of Samurai

Besides the 5 carts, numerous Samurai rode horseback on the road escorting the payloads.

The Idea of Escape[edit | edit source]

Professor Commutavi had a plan for escaping this trap, he had already communed a message across the realm asking for a "porter" to arrive and take him back to Champerty. He told the Oathwielders what dangers lay ahead and that they would certainly be placed on the front line to die against his powerful homeland (the opposing force on the Phantom Front).

Roadside Skirmish[edit | edit source]

With this news, the Oathwielders decided it was now or never, attacking their cart driver, they forced the whole line to a stop, crashing the carts against each other. With their weapons stashed away in Cart 5, they first released cages of demons to distract the Samurai.

The battle raged on for a while, with Demons attacking any and everyone on the field. However, the Oathwielders were outnumbered and forced to flee into the wilds as the Samurai alerted other nearby platoons.

The Traitor Tamer Arrives[edit | edit source]

Orris had not been in the cart with the others, and was instead on another cart headed for a mass grave. However, when word spread that the other Samurai were being slaughtered, Orris was given a second chance at life. Moments from being stabbed to death, Orris brokered a deal with the Samurai, convincing them that he could help capture and turn over the Oathwielders.

Agreeing to the bargain, Orris was brought to the others, who had at that point hunkered down in a cave, having created a bottleneck by covering the cave entrance with a broken cart. Orris was brought in to talk the Oathwielders into having some sense, and they agreed to lay down their arms and have a chat with Orris.

Betrayal[edit | edit source]

However, as soon as Orris was in the cave with the rest of them, a powerful Troverthian Shaman known as The OathReader flung aromatic components into the cave, and the entrance was quickly sealed shut, causing the entire team to pass out and have spiritual visions of their life's dreams and destinies.

Result[edit | edit source]

Having been knocked unconcious and fallen for Troverth's traps, the team was shackled, separated, and eventually delivered to The Phantom Front where they were expected to serve out the rest of their life on the front line against an insurmountable enemy.
