Kellarin Morioh is a Paladin/Warlock Human from Troverth in the OathWielders campaign.
About[edit | edit source]
Kel was born in Senshi no Rakuen and worked his way up to become a Litigator for the town, which was the term used to refer to the Samurai of the village.
History[edit | edit source]
Litigator[edit | edit source]
Kel worked for a middling Troverth lord, but was dissatisfied with him. He used Kel's power to dominate, instead of to defend himself. Kel decided to leave his service, instead becoming a sort of public defender, offering my services to any who were in actual need.
Kel was first encountered while he was playing public defender (literally) in a trial-by-combat which his hometown called "Litigation". In this particular case, he was defending a Farrier who had been cheated out of a fair price for a set of horseshoes.
Kel was one of two local public litigators, the other being Kichio
Samurai[edit | edit source]
In the city of Balabag, the newly appointed Samurai (under Master Shama) would take on the role of Lady Hidori's protector, staying with her at her palace.
However, when other Samurai arrived and tried to force Kel to hand over the lady, Kel correctly deduced they had nefarious plans (they were undertaking a "no-witnesses" cleanse of the city), he attacked his own countrymen, labeling himself an Oathbreaker.
Oathbreaker[edit | edit source]
When exposed to Fearmones, Kel saw visions of the great Emporer Troverth, who he fought in an epic skirmish. However, as the emporer removed his mask, Kel saw his own father, reflecting the inner struggles Kel faces between his loyalty to his family and homelands, and his drive to follow her personal bonds.
Kel would become friends with many other Oathbreakers after his arrest and deployment to The Phantom Front. One friend, Sueyka Huntsari, would go too far, showing Kel a shadow of what possible future laid before him if he continued to fight as a vigilante against his own people and code. Kel did the best he could among the other Oathbreakers, but ultimately could not recognize himself as one of them. Kel and the other OathWielders captured the Oathbreakers in their Ring of Marquee, and brought them to the enemy's lines as Prisoners of War. Kel himself was granted a pardon, and rejoined his friends, now AWOL war criminals of Troverth.
Soul Searching[edit | edit source]
In the champerty capital of Friþleas, Kel broke down over turning in his own countrymen to the enemy kingdom. He witnessed some of the evils that the other Oathbreakers had done, but couldn't help but recognize them still as fellow Troverthians. Ultimately surrending them over to Champerty, Kel no longer who his allegiance was to. And some soul searching was in order. The terms Samurai, Oathbreaker, and Troverthian had lost all meaning as he watched so many evil and good men claim each title.
Kel would learn where his values truly stood after a chance encounter in the wilds with a wandering troop of Samurai who had long given up the formal war-time codes of the Samurai, instead opting to be "Samurai of the Ancestors". Though Troverth culture might see these wild Samurai as "barbarians", Kel recognized his own love of his heritage and loyalty to his ancestors, and recognized that his mission was not one for his kingdom or his Emporer, but for his parents, his hometown, and his own bloodline.
Avenger of Nera[edit | edit source]
While battling on The AmuPter Front against the draconic forces of the Dolina Region, Kel came across a Holy Avenger, a weapon which seemingly spoke to him and granted him magical powers of light and magic. The weapon was in fact a vessel through which the goddess Nera would communicate and seduce mortals to follow her on her quest to conquer Nerull.
Kel would go on to meet another avenger of Nera, a woman named Ashley Angelbane, who would teach him more about Nera, her quest, and eventually go on to marry his teammate Julian.
