Smargarg was a lesser Emerald Dragon who had taken up hiding in Isonhound during the events of Into the Greedy Green in 825 PR.
About[edit | edit source]
Smargarg studiously mimicked the mannerisms of his guests.
He believed there is a magic in the retelling of stories. Each new teller adds a bit of themselves to the spell.
History[edit | edit source]
Drawn to Isonhound by powerful emerald energies, Smargarg suspected that there were other emerald dragons like himself in the region, but somehow could not confirm his suspicions, as the largest and most ancient of emerald dragons: Feredemius, had cloaked his own presence in a corruption of shadow energies.
While working in the region, Smargarg converted a group of Kobolds into Emerald-Touched Kobold Dragonshields who worked underground in his lair. These kobolds would set fires across Isonhound, as Emerald Dragons have the ability to remotely spy on locations (aiding in his hunt for the emerald energies) through any fires that originate from their lair.
He also showed particular interest in the demigod Silent after recognizing the corruption inside her head matched the corrupted emerald energies he was picking up across the land.
He was allies with Emerald dragonborn Durian, who would later become the successor to Feredemius.
The Hatchery[edit | edit source]

Smargarg's lair was one of several temples built to Feredemius in prehistoric times, but has been repurposed by at least 50 other groups in the centuries that followed. However, it's ancestral aura still makes it perfect for Feredemius, who senses the import of it to Emerald dragons.
Smargarg's lair also functioned as a gemstone dragon hatchery. At one point he possessed an Amethyst Dragon egg, which was stolen by the pirate Harold and hatched into his own pet.
He was also in possession of an Emerald Egg himself that he hoped to hatch in the region, however the egg was taken, where it made its way towards the Northern Snowy Mountains and eventually was corrupted by shadowy influence from The One That Waits. Heroes of the Greedy Green recovered it though, and it was eventually purified thanks to a magical Moonflower concoction.
The Umbral Flood[edit | edit source]
When the Shadowfell devoured Isonhound in 826 PR, Smargarg, being a younger weaker gem dragon, was forced to take his eggs and relocate to the lair of Bleucorundum, where she and other gem dragons began a plot on how to take back the land: a plot that culminated in The Battle of Five Lights.
