Sparklemas

Sparklemas is a mysterious floating holiday celebrated originally by a village of Gnomes in Amusa but soon spread across Quelmar in general.

Date of Occurance

Gnomes celebrate Sparklemas on different dates each year, based on a pattern of celebration passed down (allegedly) by Garl Glittergold himself in prehistoric times. Hilariously, Garl himself claims that he was "Born on Sparklemas!" which makes it being a floating holiday quite unusual...but then again, he IS Garl.

• In 466 PR Sparklemas was celebrated in the month of G'zyx.

The Week Before Sparklemas

Based on the events of a Wicked Wilds Sparklemas game.

"'Twas the week before Sparklemas And all through the town Not a creature was saddened Not even a frown The people were talking with fear and with care In hopes that the three ghosts all soon would be there The village rebuilt their houses and sheds While visions of zombies all danced in our heads For eight weeks ago on All Hallows' Eve A phantom arrived, and our peace did take leave When in the clocktower there arose such a clatter That some heroes arrived to attend to the matter The people turned into undeads for a while It was all most of us could see for a mile The hands on the clock face of our great tower They turned the wrong way, almost going twelve hours But before it hit noon for a permanent curse The Company stopped it before we got worse We turned back to normal if we were still here But dying and injury persisted, I fear My leg broke that evening, it hasn't been fun But some people lost their dad or their mum Still, Sparklemas is starting, and I cannot wait For three-sixty-some days I've been counting the date But some aren't excited for holiday moods I sure do feel bad for old Mr. Scrooge I keep seeing ghosts that change our emotions Like making my dad think he won't get promotions Or making my mom think we can't afford food And remembering Mr. Farley who died, that poor dude But they won't help with building, or glittering too To honor that old gnome who died for me and you I don't want these visions, I want glitter! Can you get the ghosts to stop being bitter? I don't know what's up - I'm just a small kid But I would tell all for sure if I did But I need to sleep now. I've been coughing and sleepy (Yawn). Welcome to the town named for Ym-b-try..."

The Night Before Sparklemas

‘Twas the night before Sparklemas, when all through Quelmar

Not a creature was stirring, not even a Minotaur;

The quivers were hung by the chimney with care;

With hopes that Garl Glittergold soon would be there;

The gnomes were all nestled, snug in their beds;

With visions of glitter-pears danced in their heads;

And halflings in their home holes and dwarves in their mines,

Had just settled their brains for a winter’s recline.

Behind the Screen

• Sparklemas was invented randomly by player Erin S during a session that ran particularly close to Christmas. She brought bags of glitter and poured them all over the room leading to a ban on glitter. However, the sparkles of Sparklemas live on in spirit (Note: It is not advised to pour glitter physically all over your game if celebrating Sparklemas)
