Shnek very smat yes yes. Very strung. Mak gud potions to do gud tings. Has tutle sun namd Squish.

Shnek was a character in the 5e D&D Community Campaign Into the Greedy Green. His most notable action in life was helping the heroes of Isonhound win the Battle of Five Lights during the War of Many Names. He is the sibling of the kobold barbarian Sneeze.

Physical Appearance

Shnek is a small Kobold barely over two feet in height. He wears rough and faded stitched together rags in a somehow always damp cloak with many pockets, each filled with random objects ranging from small trinkets to mushrooms to dirt to small animals. In addition underneath his coat he wears a bandolier of potions which he uses in combat.

On his face he wears a poorly crafted homemade yellow gasmask which he wears when crafting potions. He also wields a old yellow metal gauntlet onto which he has affixed shark rusty blades which he found in people's dumpsters.

He also carries a small pack in which keeps his "faverite pusron en da wole wide wold," a turtle he named Squish. It is a small simple green turtle with a tough brown shell.

Personality

Imagine if you wrapped up a raccoon, a puppy, and a blender, and put it inside a small two foot lizard man. That is Shnek.

History

Shneck is 4 years old, a little under half of a Kobold's average lifespan. Kobolds can live up to 120 years old, gaining the title of Great Wyrm, but few ever live past 10 years, 8 if you are lucky. But dont worry, "Shnek is very smat," so he should be fine, right?

Shnek was born along with many of his siblings in a large nest of eggs in a small warren to the south in Isonhound. When he and his siblings reached adulthood at 10 months they set out to make their names in Quelmar. Out of his siblings Shnek was the smartest out of all of them and loved to tinker and create small potions which he would have his siblings test. One time he tested an invisibility potion on Sneeze. Sneeze finally became visible again after two years. Another time Shnek tested a potion on a lizard, which turned it into a giant monster that ate Sneeze while the others ran away. Luckily Sneeze survived the monster's digestion system and was shit out a day later where he regrouped with the party.

Shnek a while back was in a swamp with his siblings looking for materials when he found a turtle. Shnek was so enamored with this turtle that he named is Squish and took it with him on a life of adventuring. Shnek loves Squish with all his heart and would die for his turtle friend. One time Sneeze fell off a cliff, but Shnek was unable to help his Kobold sibling because Squish had gotten stuck on his back.

Still today Shnek travels with his Kobold siblings across Isonhound looking to establish themselves as the smartest and strongest across the land. The greatest Kobolds to ever live, Shneck, Meep, Butter, Waffles, Wit, Akk, Chalupa, Squish, and... Sneeze, wait Sneeze! Where did you go this time? We didn't leave him behind again did we? No he is probably fine...

Shnek's Campaign Journal

The Protectors of the People

The Halfling Cleric Feyjin

On their journeys across Isonhound, Shnek and his many siblings would be discovered and brought to the headquarters for the Protectors of the People, a charitable organization of heroes and adventurers with the goals of protecting Isonhound from dragons and caring for the continents poor. Shnek and his siblings chaotic energies were enough to charm the organizations members, even if they got frustrated the many times they had to wrangle the curious kobold possie. The two organization members the kobolds became closest to were the halfling cleric Feyjin and the bugbear warrior Drang.

"Draconian Disasters"

Soon after joining the Protectors of the People, Shnek was invited on a mission to the town of Raritan where the adventurers were asked to investigate a nearby attack on a farm. The two survivors of the attack, Sara and Elizabeth, led the team to the farm, only to quickly run off and disappear. Instigating the farm's barn, the party discovered the mutilated bodies of the farm's inhabitants, including the rotting corpses of Sarah and Elizabeth.

Suddenly the creatures pretending to be Sarah and Elizabeth attacked, revealing themselves to be monstrous Draconians, horrid mixtures of humanoids and dragons. More Draconians arrived and combat ensued. Shnek poured a protection potion over his scales, making them hard like stone and causing a dense knotted fur to grow over them. As the fight grew more dire, he drank one of his more powerful potions and transformed into a ginormous gorilla, his transformation tearing the roof of the barn.

The party managed to defeat the Draconians, with the Draconian leader, a powerful mage, teleporting away. Inside the farm's silo, the party found a ritualistic brazier, and evidence that these Draconians were agents of the Ancient Red Dragon Kennandra.

"Umbralhound"

In 826 PR, a wave of shadows called the Umbral Flood coats the continent of Isonhound, turning it into a shadowy wasteland populated by undead and corrupted spirits. Shenk along with other heroes from the Protectors of the People fight back against the attacking shadows, saving as many as they can before retreating to the safe haven city of Seglock which was warded against the shadows.

"Kihlek and the Ixen Jonal"

During his time fighting alongside the heroes of Isonhound, Shnek met a green Kobold and ranger named Kihlek Vaess, along with their drake companion Thirku. Kihlek was from a tribe of Green Kobolds who years before had been destroyed by a company of violent mercenaries and was out searching for their place in the world and to reform their tribe. Graciousloy, although a little reluctantly, Kihlek invited Shnek and their siblings to join their tribe, the Ixen Jonal in the small burrow of Greenfang.

"Silence in the Library"

Out in the shadows, strange ruins are discovered, and Shnek and Kihlek are both hired as part of a team to investigate them. Approaching the ruins in the shadow filled wastes, the party discovers that there is a radius of magical silence around the ruins. Descending into the structure, the team discovers the ruins are actually an ancient library with many old and esoteric books. The library is also tended to by a floating eldritch entity that would lash out against anyone who would either harm the books or create noise.

Exploring the library, Shnek discovers an ancient tome dedicated to the Goddess of Death, Silent, detailing the goddesses origin and worship. Studying it further, Shnek discovers the book held a powerful magical power that provided a direct tie to the goddess.

In addition, Shnek's party discover an purple bookmark, which they discovered was actually a disguised tome made of pure amythest. By reading this amethyst book, the party discovered that it was one of the five keys to resurrecting the Ruby Dragon Sardior and could be used to banish the shadows.

But when the party attempted to leave, they were stopped by the Librarian. The party discovered that to check a book out of the library, one must sacrifice years from their life. Shnek, oblivious to the true implications of such a trade, gave up many years of his own life for the book of SIlent. The downside was he was now close to a hundred years old, but the upside was that he was now the oldest Kobold he ever knew, since most kobolds don't live past age ten due to their shenanigans.

The party managed to secure both books before returning to safety in the city of Seglock.

The Evil Shadow Dragon Feredemius

"Saving Isonhound From the Shadows"

The heroes of Isonhound gathered together and prepared to take back their home from the evil mastermind behind the shadows, the greedy green dragon Feredemius. Shnek boarded an airship with other heroes and they journeyed to an airship factory that was being attacked by shadow monsters in order to clear out the infestation and to upgrade their airship to make the journey to the shadow's source. Byt as they were packing up, the shadow dragon Feredemius attacked. As the ship attempted to fly away, Shnek deployed one of his new inventions, his "Bag'O'Acid." Surprising even Shnek, this weapon was able to damage Feredemius enough to where he had to teleport away to recuperate.

The heroes of Isonhound then gathered into five teams, each taking one of the artifacts needed to resurrect the Ruby Dragon Sardior who could banish the darkness. Shnek's team was tasked with guarding an egg made of blue corundum, protecting it from both shadows and Feredemius. Shnek's ally, Spinel, connected her spirit to the artifact and began toe ritual while Shnek flew around on an airskiff. When Feredemius attacked, Shnek attempted to fly the air skiff into the dragon, but missed repeatedly. Changing stratagies, Shnek then drank a polymorph potion and turned into a massive ape, jumping on the dragon's back.

Shnek did not have to wrestle the dragon for long though, as soon after, the ritual was finished and Sardior was resurrected. Feredemius was banished and the realm was saved!

"Revival of the Ixen Jonal"

Kihlek in their journys had discovered six unhatched green Kobolds eggs, meaning that the legacy of green kobolds would not end with them. With Shnek's help the green kobolds were hatched and the Ixen Jonal was finally reborn, with both green and red scaled Kobolds. The burrow of the Greenfang quickly grew into a small town bustling with Kobolds. After many years of leading the Ixen Jonal as the clan head, Kihlek felt the call of adventure once more, and reluctantly but trustingly left the stewardship of the tribe in Shnek's hands, with Kihlek gifting Shenk their Rod of Alertness.

For the rest of his days, Shnek would lead the Ixen Jonal and Greenfang. While he may not have been the most competent leader, or the wisest, he always put what was best for the clan first, and each member had a place in his heart. He still wonders what happened to Sneeze though..................
