"The One that Waits will see you soon" - Feredemius' first warning, given through his psionic thralls, the Drakkoths
Taking on the title of The One That Waits, his lair existed inside the Citadel of Huldus, deep within the Northern Snowy Mountains of Isonhound. Feredemius harbored ambitions to breach the boundaries of Quelmar to access the Feywild and also sought to achieve his own immortality by stealing dragon eggs for what would be a perpetual rebirth.
This article contains information said to be from Prehistoric Times. The validity of prehistoric content is dubious at best due to poor recordkeeping in the era, and should be considered unreliable, or at best: Legend.
As Feredemius was imprisoned before written history, there are no dates, just general observations of the timeline of his imprisonment.
Saridor leaves. Feredemius is imprisoned in a lair under the mountains, Eros attributes this to being his fault.
The dwarves evolve their mountain home into the citadel over the years.
Shadowfell seepage infiltrates Feredemius' lair and begins to corrupt him in his slumber.
Feredemius senses the presence of the dwarves and his now shadow twisted perceptions of the world lead him to decide to infiltrate dwarven society. He uses this to acquire minions and resources and builds a portal/connection to the Shadowfell in his lair. This increases his corruption exponentially, he's TOTALLY convinced it was all his own idea. Snowball effect.
Feredemius continues to infiltrate dwarven society with the hopes of eventually dominating them. He manages to rise through the ranks to become a trusted advisor to the king but remains modest in his actions.
Kristang arrives to free Feredemius from the shadows, only to be defeated and then used as a winch to pull even more shadow energies through to Quelmar.
With Moradin's call to action to fight Tiamat, he sees the opportunity to take over and influences the king and other nobles to let them go.

Feredemius waits...and waits...He becomes: "The One That Waits"
In 825 PR, visions of his emergence began to hit the precient in the area, including one vision seen by the mage Joshua:
"You see before you the end of all things. The great black dragon rises up from the dark depths, its eyes glowing with a terrible green light. A tower looms in the background, its top disappearing into the clouds. The mountains trembles and explodes, sending a shower of rock and dust into the air. The world is coming to an end. You can't understand how; it must be their fault. Their fault! Their fault! This is their fault! The end of the world is their fault! But you can stop it! You must stop the big black dragon before it is too late!”
In early 826 PR he finally built up enough power to pulverize the mountainside, emerging in a flood of darkness that would be known as The Umbral Flood.
To complete his infiltration all around Isonhound, the One That Waits whispered dark psionic messages that corrupted many factions and forces, ushering them to do his bidding while he laid trapped inside the Northern Snowy Mountains. These minions included:
The natural tribes of Draconic-centaur that lived near the mountains made for easily persuaded thralls, even with a whole mountain impeding his psionic attacks.
As a dragon, he himself had many minions of his own which fought for his mission, which was in turn Feredemius' mission. Namely the Cheshire Goblins.
He hoped that Longfang would open a door to the outside world, and as such, kept pressure on The Order of the Watchful Eye to re-open the Citadel.
The Mothers, a coven of corrupted night hags which then became Shadow Hags, operating out of Apara.
Feredemius used the name The Shadow Lord when psionically influencing the hags, making them believe they were serving an even greater more chaotic dark fey presence. Unknowingly to them, he was just influencing the hags to cause problems in places where Dragons could not reach, such as Seglock.
This included Gregory, the most power-hungry of the hags' own thralls, who climbed the latter and started convening with the "Shadow Lord" himself.
