The Story So Far[edit | edit source]

The players awoke in a mysterious dungeon. Will they find their way out, or die to the many, many horrors that wait them?

The Dungeon[edit | edit source]

Session 1

The players awoke on the stone cold floor of a seemingly dark and dank dungeon. As they all came to consciousness, a figure stood before them all provided a pile of equipment for each of them to use to possibly hep escape the dungeon. He posed a challenge to earn their freedom, a challenge of their mind and matter. Should they complete these trials, they are free to leave the dungeon and enter the work above. Should they fail, they will simply be added to the challenges for the next group. After the foreboding message and challenge was delivered, the group began to explore their surroundings, making note of a large pentagram on the floor with five symbols etched at the points. A flexing arm, a brain, a book, a winged boot, and a hand concealing a trick card. Thrush attempted to cast a spell into one of these sigils with no change, and Lady Nightingale felt memories involving the sound of many arrows and the overwhelming need to hide. With all of this, the party moved southward into the dungeon. The walls and rooms they passed were oddly sterile, devoid of mark or imperfection, with no signs that anyone had been here before. But eventually the games would begin. The party entered a large chamber which locked them in, and attempted to gas them all. The ever watchful eye of Thrush spotted a small hole in the wall, which revealed itself to be the key to the puzzle as Lady Nightingale stuck her sword inside to turn the gas off. It was then where Olaf kicked the door in, and spotting the two Pain beasts and Stonewraith waiting for them on the other side. Combat began with Lady Nightingale and Rowan killing the creatures with the help of their allies. With their death, the party moved forward and opened the door to a grand Cathedral, filled with masked cultists, seemingly praying to a skeletonized woman with religious robes suspended from the ceiling. Olaf and Inovi opened the door to combat with a tag team attack against the cultist at the altar, which battered him heavily. But the masks slowly turned to face the party, and the first Nightmare chamber has been opened.

Session 2

The players began their session with combat, assailing the cultists within Cathedral of the Fallen Angel. While they began their combat well, even killing one of the cultists, they succeeded in awakening their Angel. And She was not pleased with the players. She set about judging them, and finding them unworthy of mercy, attacking and directing Her cultists to remove the filth from her Cathedral without so much of a word. The fight was brutal, with many of the players getting reduced to nearly dead with no armor. However, through the actions of Wowan, Inovi, Nightingale, and Olaf, the cultists were culled and the Angel killed. They then entered a room that seemed to be warded against the creatures of the maze, though their trial was very far from over.

Session 3

The players continued in their attempt to escape the dungeon, leaving behind the safety of the warded room. As they continued deeper into the maze, they came across several chests with potions of all kinds, and these small gifts were gladly taken. As they continued forward, the party entered a large space, a vast room with the sound of someone whispering and skittering in the darkness. Inovi sent a sort of flare forward towards the sound and illuminated the figures of three children. These children were pale skinned, pale eyed, raggedly clothed, and seemed to follow the lead of a younger girl. She spoke to the party, as they asked if she needed to get out with them or if she were hurt. Though her messages were cryptic at best, she told the party to follow her, and that she would show them a secret. As they followed, the party entered a room, and the girl giggled as she said secret, and flipped a switch. The doors closed and the walls started closing in on all sides. Quick thinking on many of the party members’ parts meant the trap was disabled before they all became crushed. The girl and her two companions started to run deeper into the maze, leading the party on. As they ran, the party chased, until it was clear they were being led on. However, the group took more attention to a sigil on the floor, the outline of a brain marking the path towards the first trial. A battle of wits. As they entered, the man which had greeted them all stood in the space and said that only one person may take the test, and should they survive, the would be one step closer to freedom. Lady Nightingale, seemingly tired of hearing the arguments around her, entered the test, and began a mental chess match against the figure entrapping them. She succeeded, but only after receiving a small scratch and more stress from the ordeal. Following this, the party advanced to see what other secrets these children could reveal. They were led onward to a hallway coated in blood, and they approached a door, which more children were inside of. The room erupted with the chants of “Die! Die! Die!” As the party closed the door and advanced, running head long into a group of creatures they had already fought before. As they turned around, the children had followed, trapping the party into a fight for survival.
