It Came From Kiston was Quelmar's first entirely online campaign, starring five brand new characters---and their descendants over 2000 years later.

The session was originally broadcast on Quelmar's Twitch portal.

About

This campaign was told in two parts: The Ancestral Storyline and the Descendant Storyline. The Ancestor adventures took place in the year 207 BR, very early in the realm's written history. On the other end of the time line, the descendants lived in the year 1273 PR, a staggering 2,061 years later.

The campaign started on February 24th, 2020 and ended on August 23rd after 14 biweekly sessions.

Plot

Ancestors

In the year 207 BR, a group of travelers taking a ship from Amusa to Isonhound are shocked when their vessel skirts into unmapped territory. As the ship enters these dangerous waters, a massive storm sets in, waves form cross-crossing tidal forces around the ship, tearing it to pieces as the helpless victims plunge to the sea.

Days later, one victim washes up on a beach...Guymir. After resuscitating a body on the beach, he and the newly revived Hop take the water to search for more survivors. Ultimately there are 5, including Muirin, Edgar, and Alexi.

The survivors of the crash find hope in the form of a cult of Vecna that has been crashed on the island for months. They have some ideas of how to escape, but it'll take the help of all five ancestors to spin the plan up.

Descendants

Over 2,000 years later, an eldritch experiment gone wrong (or gone right?) has summoned five strangers from all corners of the realm back to Kiston.

The five form a shared bond, based on their heritage and their responsibility to the realm. Ultimately, the five descend into the caverns of the island and came face to face with the monsters that will destroy the world if action is not taken. In the final battle against a menacing tarrasque, Thimble Piep-Piep and Persidith were lost in an effort to turn the wheel and ultimately seal off the island once more.
